This week Laura contributed to the Westminster Hall debate on the Future of Horseracing.

Following a meeting this week with representatives of Network Rail, Laura has launched a survey concerning the waiting times at Thatcham Level Crossing.

Laura said:

In November Laura is hosting a Cost of Living Fair in partnership with the local DWP and Citizens Advice West Berkshire.

Laura, who was a Member of the Justice Select Committee, joined Channel 4 on Monday to discuss prison capacity following the Lord Chancellor's statement to the House.

Laura recently visited Cold Ash Pre-School in Thatcham to meet with the staff and children.

Speaking about the visit, Laura said:

This week, Newbury College will hold its “Destinations Expo” – an annual careers fair targeted at school leavers showcasing the best local employers from high-tech to retail, defence to public service. Some of those jobs will require an academic degree, some will require apprenticeships.

Laura attended the Planning for Future Care Event at Shaw Social Club today. The event was organised by Vicki Lambourne at Winchcombe Place Care Home for older people needing extra support.

Speaking about the event, Laura said:

Today Laura hosted her jobs fair with Newbury Jobcentre which was attended by over 200 job seekers and more than 20 employers.

Laura said that she was "delighted that residents of so many different ages and experience levels dropped in to have a look."

“I have spent my whole life fighting Thatcherism, I never thought I’d have to do it here.” So spoke Tim Farron, the former leader of the Liberal Democrats at the Party’s Annual Conference earlier this week.

Laura has officially launched her Christmas Card Competition 2023 for primary school children in the Newbury constituency (aged 4-11).

The winning design will become her official Christmas card and will be sent out across West Berkshire and to the Prime Minister.
