Having heard from constituents and met with animal rights campaigners, Laura raised with the Environment Minister the case of MBR Acres, a beagle breeding facility in Huntingdon where puppies are bred for the purposes of scientific testing.
She asked whether the Government was looking to further enhance welfare standards at MBR Acres - and other breeding facilities - and whether Ministers might "close the loophole" in the 2006 Animal Welfare Act which means that animals for scientific testing are exempt from the Act's protection.
