Laura spoke in support of Scott Benton's Private Members Bill, the Workers (Predictable Terms and Conditions) Bill, which will give workers (such as those on zero hours contracts) and agency workers the right to request more predictable terms and conditions of work.
In her speech, she spoke about the efforts the Government have made to crack down on unscrupulous employers that take advantage of employees on zero hours contracts and spoke about how zero hours contracts can be a useful tool for workers looking for flexible employment. In supporting the Bill she said that it "injects really important clarity into zero hours contracts" and that it was a "counterpoint to the exploitative practices which do linger at the uglier end of the zero contract world."
