Following the announcement that West Berkshire would receive a further £6.3 million for flood risk management schemes, Laura said:
"After years of lobbying (and a few knockbacks), I am delighted that my efforts and those of West Berkshire councillors have finally paid off. On 14 April West Berkshire Council announced a further £6.3 million from the Environment Agency for flood defence projects in Lambourn, Thatcham and Newbury.
"The funding will contribute to the completion of projects identified by the Thatcham Surface Water Management Plan. This includes the north and east Thatcham flood alleviation projects which will create three new flood storage areas protecting 110 properties.
"The new funding will also go towards other projects including a property level protection scheme for specific at-risk homes in Lambourn and a surface water flooding investigation in the Clay Hill area of Newbury.
"This will make a huge difference to the remaining parts of the Newbury constituency that remain vulnerable to flooding during the winter months, and provide real peace of mind for those home owners in the affected areas."
This follows previous work Laura has undertaken with communities in East Garston and Lambourn on flood defences.
