In Parliament, Laura met with Frank Mullane of the leading domestic abuse charity AAFDA, Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse. This follows her own campaigns on domestic abuse and domestic homicide.
Laura said that was a "privilege to meet Frank" and she added that,
"Frank's charity was born out of the murder of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son William, at the hands of her husband Alan 20 years ago. Julia lived in Hermitage, close to Newbury, and for months before had warned the services and police that she thought her husband was going to try to kill her. I was so moved by what he told me about Julia’s story, and of course it was resonant that she was so local.
"I am really looking forward to working with Frank on a number of new projects we have in mind."
