On Tuesday Laura hosted the British Horseracing Authority in Parliament ahead of National Racehorse Week next week.
The event was attended by affiliated organisations including Horse Welfare Board, Cheltenham Festival, Racing Together in Parliament yesterday, as well as some familiar faces from Lambourn and Newbury.
Speaking about the event, Laura said it was a great "chance to showcase the magic of the sector and its significance to British sport more widely."
The event was also an opportunity to hear concerns from the industry about White Paper proposals for affordability checks on punters.
Laura said: "Racing is a huge part of the identity of the Newbury area with a deep connection to the sport, and a lot of the community has grown up around it. We all want it to flourish. I'm working quite closely with local trainers on the issues in the White Paper and I'm hoping to have a meeting with the secretary of state later this month.”
The event was also attended by Sports Minister Stuart Andrew, who acknowledged concerns over proposals in the white paper.
