Campaign Responses

I receive a lot of standard emails which are pre-scripted by campaign websites and organisations. I do collect, read and consider these emails but, given the volume, I do not always reply to them individually. I do, however, post my response to the issue raised here.

Where it is of a wider public interest, I will also raise with the relevant Minister and update this page accordingly once I have their response.

My responses:

Electric Vehicles - FairCharge Campaign

The use of electric vehicle charging points is becoming more common in public places and I am aware that HMRC has received requests from businesses and business representatives to clarify the rules in specific cases, and in particular to confirm the VAT status of electric vehicle charging at char

Caged hens

The Government is committed to strengthening animal welfare standards and is currently examining the use of cages for laying hens. Ministers recognise the need to work carefully and sensitively with the poultry industry, which is currently facing significant challenges.

Illegal Migration Bill

The Bill is not about removing rights from genuine asylum seekers. But it is about ending the route across the Channel as a legitimate point of entry.

"Vote to protect my rights" (Public Order Bill)

I understand that some people have concerns about the measures being introduced through the Public Order Bill to reduce the impact of protests on people's day-to-day lives.  I wrote to the Minister to raise these concerns and, in his response to me, the Minister Chris Philp MP, said:

Fair Fuel APPG (fuel prices)

I welcome the decision announced in the Budget to freeze fuel duty for the thirteenth consecutive year, at current levels for the next 12 months, delivering a saving of around £200 for the average driver since the 5p cut was introduced.

Breast screening

Every effort is being made to continue raising awareness of breast cancer and to improve the treatment of all those diagnosed with this disease.

NHS 'Federated Data Platform'

Technology is playing a central role in realising the NHS Long Term Plan, helping clinicians use the full range of their skills, reducing bureaucracy, stimulating research and enabling service transformation.

"Good Business Matters" Pledge

HM Government (HMG) is committed to promoting the protection and respect of human rights in business, both at home and abroad.

Trophy Hunting

I appreciate the strength of feeling around this issue. I take the welfare of all animals extremely seriously and I am committed to strengthening and supporting long-term conservation of animals both internationally and at home.
